The Window
Brussels 2025
The Window is more than a recurring element in my work—it’s a symbol I’ve carried through every canvas, every wall, every portrait. It was born from moments when I visited people I love—people who were behind bars or confined within institutions. I was a teenager, walking into places where freedom was suspended. But I always walked out. I was free. They weren’t.

And yet, through all of it, I held onto hope. Even as a child, I stayed positive. I believed that beyond every wall, there was light. That belief became a shape—a window I started painting again and again. A small opening in the canvas, a passage toward possibility, toward air and sky.

I painted it on city walls, when graffiti was my way of speaking. I tattooed it on my left hand, so it appears in every photo I take for Universal Humanity. It’s visible when I raise my hand, when I frame a face, when I capture a moment of truth.

The Window is my signature.
It stands for freedom. For hope.
For the quiet certainty that no matter how dark the room, there is always a way to look beyond.
